Siobhan Antoinette Heard’s life began on a frosty December night in Houston, TX, when she was welcomed into the world by Clarence and Belinda Heard. Growing up in a household filled with love alongside her two younger sisters, Siobhan’s deep-seated desire to sing was matched only by her initial timidity to share her gift. It was in her kindergarten years that she boldly stepped into the spotlight, delivering a solo performance that depicted sheep in Jesus’ birth. The enthusiastic response ignited a spark within her, setting the stage for a lifelong journey of music.
As her journey unfolded, Siobhan navigated the ebullient highs and formidable lows of performing. During her elementary school years, her family’s path led them to the Ashanti United Church of Christ in Los Angeles, where her vocal talents flourished under the guidance of the praise and worship leader. Embracing solos within the church community, she found her voice resonating with the congregation, her parents’ proud smiles greeting her by the church doors.
The completion of her education at Harvard-Westlake School marked a turning point. Despite the brilliance of performing on international tours across Europe, Siobhan grappled with challenges stemming from racial dynamics and academic pressures. This chapter solidified her identity and deepened her understanding of her Black heritage within a predominantly white environment.
Her journey continued at Occidental College, where Siobhan explored her queerness and ventured into songwriting alongside David Bergner. Her transition from classical to popular music took root, while her college years witnessed her sharing the stage with artists such as Lupe Fiasco and MURS, solidifying her place in the professional music realm.
Siobhan’s path was not without trials, including moments of introspection and battles with mental health. Enrolling at the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood allowed her to hone her recording skills, collaborating with producer Victor “Alwayz Prolific” Holmes to give life to tracks like “Love Bap” and “Beauty of the Rain.”
Throughout her musical odyssey, Siobhan’s passion for teaching remained steadfast. Volunteering at ‘A Place Called Home,’ she nurtured young talents in singing, harmony, and performance, fostering connections with fellow artists Nyaze Vincent, Jevon Reynolds, and “Mark Minor.”
In the vibrant open mic scene, from “Natural High” to the transition to “Flight School,” Siobhan found a platform for her artistic expression. This environment introduced her to Jevon, who introduced her to Lauren Womble. Lauren, known as “Samantha Purple,” “L. Boogie,” and “Sam P,” became her creative partner, propelling her into the production of Siobhan’s first full-length album. However, Lauren’s illness marked a tragic chapter, casting Siobhan into a realm of grief and loss.
Overcoming her trials with resilience, Siobhan emerged as a transformed individual. Devastated by Lauren’s death, she embarked on a journey of healing that saw her shedding over 150lbs. The magnitude of her loss led her to the depths of a psychiatric hospital, where she confronted her pain and emerged with newfound strength.
Embracing her journey of self-discovery, Siobhan delved into vocal engineering under Michael “East” “Alln” Crawford’s guidance, collaborating with producers like Chucky Kim and Alwayz Prolific to breathe life into her compositions, including the poignant “Missed Call.”
Siobhan’s story continued to evolve as she rekindled her passion for teaching, finding fulfillment in nurturing young talents. In the midst of her ongoing journey, she channeled her experiences into songwriting, recording a bundle of six songs, produced by Chucky Kim and Alwayz Prolific, for release in 2024.
With unwavering determination, Siobhan stands as a testament to resilience, a teacher, a singer, and a beacon of authenticity. Her unbreakable spirit and willingness to share her journey’s depths and triumphs make her a force to be reckoned with, ready to leave her mark on the world.
